Reality
Statistics show that students who study in one of Ontario’s French-language Catholic secondary schools possess a high-level of bilingualism.
Myth
Immersion programs are offered within an English-language school. French-language Catholic schools, for their part, adopt an instructional program given entirely in French from early childhood to adulthood.
Reality
The programs delivered by French-language Catholic secondary schools allow students to master Canada’s two official languages and promote an openness to the world.
Myth
Our English teachers are specialists in this subject. English class is taught beginning in elementary school, and with the same rigour as the classes in English-language schools.
Reality

Reality
By having access to a myriad of activities and services, students have many opportunities to assert themselves, demonstrate leadership, take pride in their Francophone heritage and affirm their identity. The proposed activities highlight Francophone culture in all its diversity. The student is therefore aware not only of the French language, but also of Francophone culture.
Myth
The teachings of the Catholic Church place great importance on understanding other groups and beliefs. Our schools realize this desire by offering classes on world religions.
Reality
Many postsecondary institutions offer bursaries specifically for students who pursue their studies in French, and many Francophone organizations also award bursaries only to French-language school graduates. As these bursaries are given in addition to the bursaries for Ontario students as a whole, students from the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence are eligible for extra bursaries.
Myth
The belief that it is difficult for a student who has studied in a French-language Catholic school to pursue postsecondary studies in English is a myth. The postsecondary institutions in our region do not hesitate to demonstrate this University of Windsor letter.
The Csc Providence firmly believes that the level of education offered in its French-language schools enhances a student’s résumé, increasing the likelihood of admission to a postsecondary educational institution.
Myth
In Canada, speaking both official languages (French and English) provides a competitive edge when it comes to seeking employment. Statistics also show that bilingual people in general have a higher income than those who are unilingual Francophone or Anglophone.
